FOB China prices for key amino acids have edged up slightly, though supply remains restricted. While buying continues in China and Latin America, markets in Europe and the USA are subdued. Most Q4 volumes are already contracted, with some Q1 deals secured due to historically low prices. Despite reduced freight costs and a favourable exchange rate, the market shows little sign of recovery.

Lysine
Prices FOB China have increased slightly, and restrictions are seen on the volume offered. Some buying activity is still seen in, for example, China and Latam, but other regions like Europe and the USA remain relatively quiet. Most of Q4 is contracted by now, and due to the very low prices, some of Q1 is contracted as well.
Threonine
Threonine offers remain plentiful, and the market is sluggish with many buyers staying on the sidelines, despite record low prices on a FOB China basis. Reduced container rates on key trade routes and a favourable EUR-USD exchange rate raise questions about when the market may stabilise or increase. The market is currently quiet, with a significant portion of Q4 contracted, yet outstanding volumes still exist.
DL-Methionine
The methionine market continues to show stability, with no notable effects from scheduled or ongoing maintenance shutdowns, resulting in prices that have remained consistent over a considerable timeframe. While suppliers are hesitant to lower prices, there is also a lack of significant upward pressure on them. The fourth quarter is partially secured through contracts.
Tryptophan
The overall tryptophan market is continuing to experience a downward trend across all regions, and the persistent issue of oversupply is still evident. Despite this ongoing decline, it is important to note that the pace of price reduction has somewhat decelerated. The fourth quarter is still partially uncontracted.
Valine
Recently, the valine price has stayed relatively stable in most regions. But right now, it is showing some new price decline again, mostly outside China. In Europe, the provisional anti-dumping measures have led to a smaller price spread between Chinese and Western origins. Overall, the market is very quiet, and there is no hurry to book significant Q4 volumes.
