Jury member: “Immediate applicability matters – and so does the business case”

For Rabobank’s Jeen Nijboer, member of the Sustainability Impact Award jury, the strongest submissions are those that can be rolled out right away and come with a realistic roadmap for economic viability.

Nijboer acknowledges that turning sustainability into a financially attractive proposition is challenging, but says that is exactly what the industry now needs to see. He is a senior sustainability expert at Rabobank and a jury member of the Misset International Sustainability Impact Award.

Raised on a dairy farm, he understands first-hand the realities of primary production and feels a strong connection to farmers. At the same time, he emphasises the need to safeguard nature, noting that environmental conditions ultimately define what farmers can produce.

The Sustainability Impact Award, an initiative by Misset International in collaboration with Evonik, VIV, FEFAC and Rabobank, recognises products and services in the feed and livestock sector that deliver measurable and scalable sustainability benefits.
