Kazakhstan is emerging as a notable player in the global grain market. In the 2024–25 season, the country boosted its grain and flour exports by 34%, reaching 12.4 million tons, supported by a strong harvest of 26.5 million tons. Turkey is among is the buyers of Kazakh wheat.

Egypt eyes Black Sea wheat

Meanwhile, Egypt has purchased an undisclosed volume of French wheat at $240 per ton and is reportedly seeking additional supplies from the Black Sea region.

US sowing progresses steadily

34% of the crop had been planted—matching the 5-year average. In Kansas, however, sowing is running about 17% behind normal levels, while other regions are moving ahead more quickly thanks to mild weather. Since the start of the season, US wheat exports have topped 10.6 million tons, well above last year’s pace, with Indonesia and Japan remaining the main buyers.
